Poetry Walkabout

When I get stuck, sometimes I go on "poetry walkabout"-- walk around a city, familiar or strange, and just write and write. When I don't do this, I miss it.

Poetry Walkabout.

This the day I longingly
eye the road, and foot
the phantom pedal--
a line of verse to cool my head
roll down the window, play
the sonnet loud and long
into this spring-shiny day
the sunlight calls me
sitting in this room
thinking I could leave
set my feet random
to the brick
and drink the spring
undiluted, warm and thick.
